Raid Farms

Raid Farms is a semi-anarchyish Minecraft server with a unique blend of features. The goal of this server is to make Minecraft servers fun again, and to build a server experience that is enjoyable for PvPers, builders, and anyone who likes Minecraft. The server is fairly new and is still very experimental with frequent changes.

Rules

First off, let's establish the rules. There aren't many, so please just follow them. By playing the server, you consent to these rules:

  1. No hacks, cheats, dupes, exploits, or lag machines. This includes any mod, client, or resource pack that could give you an unfair advantage. See our list of allowed mods here.
  2. No hate speech, gore, illegal content, NSFW, religious wars, or doxxing. Basically, just be nice to people and don't be a weirdo.

And that's it. Those are the rules.

Gameplay

So what makes this server unique? Let's briefly cover the most important gameplay mechanics and aspects of Raid Farms:

World Border

The server features a 5k to -5k world border. This encourages natural player interaction. No more travelling millions of blocks from spawn and essentially playing singleplayer.

Check out my video about world borders.

PvP and Griefing

You are allowed to PvP and grief other player's bases. There is no free-for-all land claim in the wilderness. While this can be chaotic at times, it also creates a vastly dynamic world of excitement.

If you need safety, come to spawn (aka Conehaven), which is a 100 x 100 safe zone. Better yet, rent out a plot at spawn.

Check out my video about PvP and griefing.

Economy

The currency is wheat. This encourages players to settle down and build some sort of base in the wilderness. Wheat can be safely stored via the Banker at spawn.

Wheat can only grow in full sunlight between Y 60 and Y 160. Bone meal is disabled to prevent instant revenue.

Occasionally, there are droughts which can last for months. During this time, wheat only grows when it is raining in game, which is less frequent.

Check out my video about the wheat currency.

Ranks

Use your wheat to level up in society. Each rank unlocks new opportunities. Visit the Rank Officer at spawn to advance your rank.

  1. Nomad: The beginner rank for new players.
  2. Commoner: Rent a safe plot at spawn.
  3. Merchant: Run a shop at spawn.
  4. Architect: Coming soon...

More ranks are coming soon!

Plots

Plots are small, safe areas at spawn that can be rented out for wheat. This is the number one way to protect yourself and your items from griefers.

In order to rent out a plot, you must have the Commoner rank. See the Landlord at spawn in order to get a plot.

Each plot has a rent cycle. Most plots require you to pay rent every 14 days. If you fail to pay your rent, you will lose access to your plot, including all the items in your plot. The next player to rent your plot will inherit the state of the plot.

There are various different types of plots:

  • Residence: Store items and feel safe.
  • Shop: Run a shop.

You may only have one of each plot type.

Plots are a foundational aspect of the server and are constantly evolving.

Shops

Shops can be run on a shop plot. This is the best way to perform safe, scam-free transactions on the server. Shop items are sold in exchange for wheat.

In order to get a shop plot, you must have the Merchant rank. See the Landlord at spawn in order to get a shop plot. Shop plots have the same rent mechanics as described in the plots section.

Other Mechanics

Various other mechanics are currently being experimented and are subject to change:

  • Nether is disabled
  • End is disabled
  • Enchanting is disabled
  • Villager trading is disabled
  • Mace is disabled

Note that these mechanics will frequently change, and there is a lot of development in progress. In the end, this is all a massive experiment to try and build the best Minecraft server experience.
